On a recent trip to India, I had the opportunity to communicate with the many dogs that wander freely there. Although I would not advocate for animals in my local area tp live on "the street", I felt that it was important to be completely open to what the animals of the location where I was in India had to say.
In a beach area, I spoke with a female dog, appx 3 years of age, who very pointedly asked me if could come home to live with me. She laid down about 50 feet away and staring intently at me as she spoke. She explained that she was ill, that she had a "parasite". She told me that she was not like many of the dogs of this place. That she had heard about dogs living indoors and that she was very much was a dog who wanted to do the same and to have a "family". I informed her, regretably, that I could not taker her home. She would continue with her "pack" life, she informed me.
Another dog was clear that he was very content. This dog's perspective was that the animals of this place are attuned to teh earth and that they live in harmony with the humans. The humans sometimes provide food, but for the most part leave the dogs be. He felt that "dogs are dogs" here and this maintained a natural balance.
